Question for the Master Map Makers
« le: 08 décembre 2010, 03:07:01 am »
Sorry if this question has been addressed elsewhere, but I can't seem to find the answer.

How do I get a map with many trees like Ratisbonne?  When I create a map, I get a message pretty quickly that I have reached the maximum number of objects for trees.  But I reach this well before the number on maps such as Ratisbonne.

Same here, there is "another" way to make these maps, but I don't know what it is, some have built up area's very close to each other, which I can not do, there is at least one with a river in the middle area of the map, which I can not do, and some with more trees - like you have said.

More variety for the maps would be a good improvemet, and it must be possible, because somehow these things have already been done.

don't worry you will have maps with a lot of trees in the Belgium campaign mod.

OK, great news, but how do you get all of those trees in there?

Thanks

Take a look at the file LimConst.txt (folder constante)
Line 10 : 0 300 0
You have to increase the figures 300.

Attention : these figures define the density of objects, with 2 constraints:
a) for the AI.. it is important that the AI works with gap between the objects
b) for the GPU... each new mesh needs a few time to be draw...
So, you can modify these values but there is a risk  :p

Thanks JMM, I will leave that alone for now.

Does that mean these maps, with changed values, MIGHT not work correctly ?.

Yes, possible.. for example, the last column is for the distance. If you decrease the distance between objects, it is possible AI doesn't find tactical plans because it may not deploy the Corps. I'll try to comment these limits ASAP.
