Impressive, I still think the graphic files should be accessible ala Combat Mission though.   :D   There are people out there that would make it even more impressive for free.  I'm not one of them, but I'd download their mods.  :D

Bonjour...

Some screenshots from the OoB editor
(with rotation of unit and walk too)

and bonus    Cuirassier et Lancier Rouge

JMM

PS : the context CM is very different! I am no sure it's possible to compare HW and CM because it's possible to make a graphical mod with CM, but it's not possible to modify the internal parameters of the engine!

For HW, many parameters of engine are in the doctrine tool! so, if it's possible to make a graphical mod, it's possible to create a lot of battles (napoleonic and other epoc   )
Clearly, I have to make some money because I must eat to live!

Bonjour,

I like to think of the OoB Editor as a combination of an Armee & Uniform mod station all rolled up into one..

I can do limited degree of mods on the Uniforms.. Collars, Cuffs, Lapels, Turnbacks, etc.   and I can fully modify Armee compostion too.. change #Bn's, change #Guns, change #Hommes, etc...

It is sort of a multifunction tool for these puposes...

Lancier Rouge and Cuirrasier!.. very nice screenshot.. I hope that the Cav combat engine is ready to go soon... these fella's look very impatient..

Cordialement, Duc dEarl

VERY cool indeed.  Thanks for the update.

You know, I am wondering who those soldiers are with the red coats and a white cross on red -on top of their shako are?  I am referring to the very first image at the top.

Thanks

Bonjour Le Tondu,

It's no less than the Saxon Life guard grenadiers.  :D

Interesting.  In my "Poles and Saxons of the Napoleonic Wars", George Nafziger, et al says the following about the Saxon Leib Grenadier Garde's uniform :

"The Leib Grenadier Garde wore a red coat with yellow cuffs, lapels and collars.  The uniform buttons were white metal.  They wore white breeches, black or white gaiters with yellow buttons, and white leather work.  The headress consisted  of a black bearskin bonnet without a plume.  It had a yellow patch on the top with a white cross; cords were white......"

!.)  The image seems to show a shako with a white cross on the top.

2.)  The image has a very LARGE red background instead of yellow.

Now, I am NOT "nitpicking" here.  In a friendly way, I just wish to point out an inconsistency that others (who in the future might not be as nice as I am) --may wish to scream about.  This is quite the "hobby" to say the least and "experts"  are everywhere.

If I am wrong about my perceptions based on that image, I apologize.

Thanks.
Rick

Bonsoir Rick,

The uniformology is a very inexact science.
A lot of french players (with figurines) try to get the better informations and they are no sure about their informations.

It's possible there are some errors in our uniform data base.
Laurent is using many sources to paint the uniforms.
Lars, and each testers help us to make the better.

Sorry if there is some defaults. Like the OoB, we have to make a choice. I hope these choices are right and historical.

Another important thing : The HistWar uniform data base has 550+ different uniforms. For this epoc (1805..1815), the total of uniforms is very huge (maybe 2000+).. and it's not possible to make this. So, sometimes, we are matching a regiment and the best possible uniform of the DataBase.

Citer
The headress consisted of a black bearskin bonnet...
The image seems to show a shako with a white cross on the top

It's a black bearskin bonnet.. not a shako  :D

A bientôt
(no problem Monsieur le Tondu)

Are you OK with information on Piedmont uniforms? If you have gaps in coverage I have some info on units and flags from the days I painted up a 15mm 1796 period Piedmont army.
Cheers, Martin

Bonjour,

Today, The list of uniforms is closed
There are around 550 different uniforms, and 63 helmets...

There are some specific uniforms for each country. To avoid a huge uniform database, there is some simplification  8)

I think the modder could work on the uniforms  to add some new units.
For example, it's possible to define 10 different uniforms for each regiment.
And all regiments don't have this set, but only 6 of them. So, the modders can complete the list..

Wow! Those screenshots are impressive!

Much better than the movie I saw.

Just one thing: the textures seem a bit flat like there are no painted values (light and shadows) on them. On super low poly models like those you have to put some light and shadows (like for example having the top of the unit - head - lighter than the feet). It's the same old trick that people used painting miniatures (the dark wash).
How big are your textures if it's not secret? :)

I have some professional experience in doing textures for RTS so I could talk about it for hours ;)
