A short summary of a french topic about the HistWar status...

ab) Graphics and GamePlay need some improvements
c) Concepts are interesting..
So, we are working hard about Graphics and GamePlay.. and the engine is new.
a/ The graphics : The troops are almost perfect, and the polygonal count is optimized, in regard to the number of soldiers...
It could be improved, but we're a small team, and we're in a hurry
It seems the buildings are fine, like a lot of other games.
The ground is going to be improved too, but we need to make Histwar runs smooth because the map size is important (10 * 75 km), so it's gonna be quite difficult...
We are working on the animation (smoke, fog, fire, explosion...) to make them nicer, but I think that its pretty good by now, tough =)
b/ The Gameplay : During these 2 last years, we had defined many GUI.. BetaTeam mades some good reports. Our choice is an interface very simple and user-friendly, to easily manage in 2D or 3D every units.
c/ The concept : The engine is totaly new ! It's the same concept than LGAA for the organization, the orders, and the units' behavior.
A few new orders has been added to give you the opportunity to make elaborate tactics. There's now possible to delay orders.
d/ Other thing : Two powerful editors has been added to make your own scenari.
I think Histwar is not really a "wargame", nor a RTS. Maybe Histwar is the first FPC (First Person Commander
), because you're really in the action, but you still command 100 regiments...
In this game the concept of time is as important as it is in a real battle, and that's innovating !
Some "real" wargamers may say that this use of time won't make you able to command well, but I can just say this :
The Future will show us where's the truth !
THX Hindenburg for this Translation...
