This is a post to present you one of my publications on the Napoleonic wars.
My eighth publication was posted on 'Planète Napoléon' on 27 February 2019. It relates to the campaign of the 'Armée des Pyrénées' from June 1813 to April 1814, but the central subject is the Battle of Orthez (27 February 1814) which opposed Soult to Wellington, with chapters presenting the ins and outs.
Diégo Mané, creator of this site, wanted my 'digital book' (161 pages) to be published on the anniversary of the battle.
This is a battle that has not fascinated current historians, except for a few pages in recent books or magazines. It was therefore necessary that I return to older French, British or Portuguese sources of the nineteenth century and early twentieth. I also visited the city of Orthez and walked the battlefield in April 2015.
It might interest you if you could read in French. If not, you could consult the Orders of Battle in the chapter entitled 'Annexes', especially that of the Wellington's army in which I give the battalions figures and the names of the British and Portuguese officers down to the rank of captain.
