Installation Question and DIRECT X
« le: 21 septembre 2014, 22:44:34 pm »
Gentlemen,
I am gathering information before purchasing HW:LG.  Questions:
1.  I have the following system
ASUS  G73SW model laptop
intel (R) Core (tm) i7 263QM CPU @2.00 GHZ     4 Cores
RAM...16GB
Windows 7 Premium Home Edition 64 Bit
Display......1920 x 1080    32 Bit
DIRECT X..11
NIVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M  1.50GB
I believe this is sufficient to be able to run the 3D option of the game is this correct?
2.  I have DIRECTX..11   installed is this ok to run HW:LG?
3.  I have read an old review on Google which said game will run only on DIRECT X ...9
so I am concerned since I have DIRECT X..11.

Thank all of you for your answers to my previous questions.

Yes you need DX9.  But don't worry it wont cause any issues with Windows.  DirectX, like .NET don't have all previous versions rolled up into the latest version.
From your specs you shouldn't have any trouble running Histwar:LG or Histwar:Napoleon(its Histwar:LG with upgraded graphics).

I do not understand your answer about Direct X.

I have Direct X 11 installed.  Do you mean I cannot run HW:LG
with Direct X 11??
Are you saying I must erase Direct X 11  and go back
and install the old Direct X 9??

This would make no sense.
Thank you.

Hello,

You have to install DX9c.. but don't worry, DX11 isn't deleted on your system.
A lot of programs yet use DX9.

Gentlemen,

The people in my flight simulator forum tell me that Direct X 11 is "backward compatible" so it will run DX 10 and Dx9 games.  They so there
should be no need to install Direct X9c.

Do you agree?

No... DX9c must be installed because DX11 doesn't included the version DX9 (and the previous ones).
Probably the installation of DX9 was silent for the flight simulator.
All players of HistWar with W7/8 have installed DX9c... really no problem.
If you don't install this version, some dll will be missing and the game will not run.

JMM, and all other
Gentlemen,

The people on my flight sim forum conceded that JMM is correct, and that I should install DirectX C which will just
be filed with the other versions of DirectX on my computer.
I have therefore download and installed DirectX C today.
I am then going to purchase a copy of EW:LG.  May wait to receive CD in mail to install.
I want to apologize for all my questions regarding installation and patches.
Thank all of you for your patience and help.

PS  I live in the USA.  Are there any other USA members?
