Got out total war Medieval 2 (have not played for ages) And its funny how memory plays tricks on you - I thought the graphics were better than Histwar BUT I not so sure that is the case

a) the landscapes in Histwar is better

b) the figures are not so good in histwar BUT playing Total war the number of figures IS SO MUCH SMALLER and I actually prefer to see lots of troops as in histwar

Plus the fact is that Total War is not going to get better.
Ive read the the Empire Total has failed with user because the formations are just a group of figures in one mass. No Historical Formations like Histwar

Total War is basically one game with lots of sets of clothes, but to be fair the developers admit they are more inspired by the cinematic than the realistic (and it is a game not remotely a simulation). They can be fun to play (especially Shogun 2 IMHO which feels like a Kurosawa movie), but after a while I get bored. Napoleon is probably the worst one (again my personal opinion) but I had some fun adding the Orient mod to it and I also quite like the 1648 mod for Medieval 2 (the modders seem to take their history seriously).

Hello gents,

Have you seen the historical battles in the Lordz mod for Napoleon total War ?  http://www.thelordz.org/
If you have the game then you must download and see them, they are painstakingly researched and the maps are masterpieces. Everything about how they are built and portrayed is a joy for any Napoleonic fan. As for playing them, they are designed for MP only but you can still view there magic in single player.

I agree 100% Dougie very well done and kudos to the Lordz, for  the effort,
something the franchise apparently was not too interested in pursuing
themselves.
