HistWar: RCoW ?

JMM

To make it short, 03a will correct bugs, 03b will improve the AI and 04 will be the final version.
AND it was announced that there are plans for a HistWar II: RCoW !! :D

What are your thoughts ? What can we expect from versions 03 and 04 of HistWar ?
What will be HistWar II ?
What is RCoW ?

As to me, let me say that I expect that 04 will have all the planned and missing features - namely Divisional/Brigade AI and orders, and the ability of playing as a CC in a AI:AI battle. I also hope that the possibility of historical deployments and orders will be an option in scenarios.

And I hope HistWar II will bring Campaign (s)

So,... what does it mean RCoW  :?:

In French or in English ?

If in English, C might stand for Command, or Campaigns  ;)
W for War... R for Real ?

Real(istic) Command of War ? Campaigns of War ?

In French, R and C could have the same meaning, but W (and o) ??

No takers ?

If C=Campaigns

How I imagine a campaign or operational.
Large map 200 x 150 km
Fow
Trace route with waypoints for to find better way for move the corps, different speed for mountains, roads etc
Many rivers and bridges for concentration movements.
Lops to place on the way of main movements, otherwise army suffers.
Little icons.
Symbolic corps but with possibility also of trace route for few cavs for little recce areas (enough near the corps) .
News, news true or false for informations of enemy movements.(spies)
For to make battles for close enemy corps (i do not know), but saves position , play battle with Histwar I  and at the end upload ceh remained into file of campaign and continue.
And maybe other things.

For the hugh Maps 2000 x 1500  for example, that are made for this I think they should be able to be made by the Map Editor or something like this to be able to have a Campaign anywhere, and made up by users.

Line of supply, depots, reinforcements, fow, information about the enemy during the campaign which also has a certain percentage of false or truth.
Spies, dispatches, delay etc same as is histwar now, I would think.

So...can we know some more about this RCoW:mrgreen:

Now that o3b is near completion, and we know what to expect of 04  (or do we ? ), will RCoW really bring us campaigns ?

And if yes, how ?

I  see 3 ways of playing campaigns:

1. A full-blown strategic game like CoG where the battles can be played tactically (this would require a whole new game engine for the strategic part, so I do not believe this would be it).

2. A campaign played in a large map of HW - with some zooming in when forces make contact - this could be it, but it has some problems: how to simulate accurately and historically  the passage of time (weeks, months), the abstraction or representation of supply, info, recce, the almost certain progressive deviation from historic campaigns (which to some players can be a good thing - not to me, though...)

3. Or a more simple system of a "chain" of historical battles, in which the player(s) would fight basically the same or very similar engagements of historical campaigns/years, but in which the result (strategical result) of each battle would determine the forces available and their disposition on the next battle in the chain.  Kind of what the Civil War Generals 2 game did many years ago (and in my opinion very well, for instance in the Shenandoah Jackson campaign)

This last possibility is, I think, the easiest to implement - the results of each battle in HW are already calculated for "the future", historical maps exist or can be "easily"  8) made, etc - and possibly also the most satisfying for the players, IMHO.

Any thoughts ?

JMM ?  ;)
