Yes this is clear.
But is important also to learn to read the battle and how set up attack and defense and know the opportunities.
How practice is very usefull,then in challenge with other players is also funny.
Then SOLO mode is very quick , a PBEM is long to play.
Only MP has all the advantages.
While wait to MP ......

Now that i have watch your Aspern replay the legendary cavalry charge seems to me a natural progression even if risky.
Perhaps I would have done.Mahh
In retrospect  I do not want fight again last past battles, go ahead if you want.
Next battle Echmuhl scenario from Histwar depot ufficial, same option.

Echmuhl it is mate, another hard battle is Marengo. You are right Alfy, SOLO is invaluable for training purposes, you learn so much abouy how HLG works, what is successfull and what isn't. As for my Cavalry charge, well that's one of the things I have learned about HLG, a charge by well balanced Cavalry on a weak advancing flank (not in defensive line), invariably works.
