I managed to make a video of a complete play through of a small battle (Wertingen) which i have posted on youtube:
Pt1 the battlefield and the interface

They were made with the Fraps demo program (for capture) (lots of download sites) and edited in Windows Movie Maker which came with WinXP. The fraps demo only captures 30 sec film clips (but lots of them!) and would not capture the sound well so I have posted them as silent films rather than inflict my musical taste on the viewer!
WMM editing is simple but if you have a lot of clips and or video transitions (dissolve etc) it doesnt properly render the film if it is longer than about 5 mins (hence the 4 films for this project)
I saved the films in WMM as 'best quality' to play on my computer: the files are wmv files of about 30Mb each and these uploaded to you tube in about 20mins. In the Youtube upload dialogue (very simple to use) I gave them the titles 'HistWar Wertingen Pt1 -4' and the tags (for the search program) HistWar, Napoleonic wargame, Battle of Wertingen and the permission for public viewing.
Confusingly pt 4 became available on the search engine before the other parts. These are the 'HistWar Wertingen Pt1 -4 files' which you may see though not all are on the search engine yet (two days later) although all were uploaded at the same time and in identical manner. If you can see one, then all the others can be seen through the link to 'my other videos' .
I was concerned to get as best quality of image possible since the video did not seem to do justice to the on screen resolution of the game so I uploaded a second set 'Scenario pt 1 - 4' made to give the very best possible quality I could capture. This was done by saving the films in WMM choosing save to my computer then 'Other' option rather than 'best quality' used before. This allows choice from drop down menu and I rendered and saved the films as DV-AVI s. These files are huge, typically 1Gb each as they havnt been compressed. I converted them to flv (flash video) files using a free downloaded AVI to flv converter ( freeavi2flv program from Elerion a 2.92Mb download) which is a preferred youtube format. I used the maximum quality 720x 540 option for the conversion. This gave .flv files for the four films of about 60Mb each, which were directly uploaded to Youtube. These are the four films : HistWar Scenario pt1-4. I think these show a bit better resolution than the other four....
