December? January?  It doesn't matter to me.  I've been waiting since 2001 and I'll take it whenever Jean-Michel says it is ready.

Go JMM, go!

Lastly, let's not forget what time of the year it is.  Surely even JMM deserves to get some time off for the Holidays.

Vive l'Empereur!

I loved the fact that in Denmark even the unemployed were required to have 6 week's holiday off looking for work!  Enjoy a Jule breather, monsieurs!

But,... returning to the deadline, if I am not mistaken, after a game goes "gold", some time is needed to make the CD's, print covers, manuals, etc, box the all thing and then prepare to ship. In past instances that I followed, this was at least a couple (2-4 + ?) weeks. So... I would think that if the January 2010 shipping deadline is to be followed, the "machin" must be considered finalized until the end of the current December month..., bugs or no bugs  8)
(and there are always going to exist bugs, probably lots of them, no matter how long it gets delayed  ;))

Citer
Just tried to preorder the digital download version and got this:
Credit Card Payment:
API Error:
Error reading default parameters definition (xxx/parmcom.webaffaires)
I guess I'll still wait then.

I had the same problem the first time I tried to make the payment.

I tried again and evertyhing went smoothly.

So don't be afraid, just try again ! If you get an error message, your card won't be charged.

I have managed to pre-order now (#369 - Digitial Download Only). If the manual is a PDF included with the download I'm happy enough with that. Once I've read the manual I doubt I'll look at it much again anyway.

By the way, I still think that sales tax calculation is wrong. I work for a big retail company that ships all over the world and whenever the customer is in a different country they get charged sales tax at their own country's rate. For HW:LG I am being charged the French rate of 19.6% rather than my own UK rate of 15%. It might only be worth a few pound but as my own company doesn't do it that way I'm just wondering if it's correct.

There are 2 ways...
a) we use French rate of 19.6% for all countries in Europe... (VAT varies from 15% to 25%)
b) we use the rate of each country.. the management for this kind of process is very complex.. and we'll have to increase the price for this task.

You can believe me, I think it's the best way we chose.

Electronic trade have specifics rules for countries within the EU. The VAT rate that must be applied is the one that belongs to the country where the saler is registered. So if Histwar games is registered in France, French VAT must be applied for all customers within the EU.

And there are those who yet wonder why I oppose the VAT here across the Old Briney...

FWIW, I think the way JMM is handling the VAT for we colonials is exemplary and all together first class.
