Best wishes to all for 2010. Hopefully we will see the new demo soon and game later on this month! I just wonder if it's possible to improve the game graphically.

Indeed I am in agreement.works of art and simulations of this magnitude must not be rushed out the door to please shareholders, which thankfully I mdo not think there are any.I wait with patience and anticipation to experience the closest thing to the battles of the era without myself smelling of powder;)

JMM, is the digital version now to be released along with the physical version later in January?  The email didn't contain that specific bit of information.  Thanks.

Hi JMM

I got the e-mail as well but the online shop link was broken. Have you been overloaded with requests? Should I leave it a few days and try again later? Or is there a new link I can use? I'd like to put a pre-order in as soon as I can as a gesture of support.

Thanks.
Cheers, Martin

Wow, I see the race is on between Les Grognards and Napoleon, Total War.
Of course at least with HistWar: Les Grognards we have the Demo version to
play about with. But of course the modders on the Empire: Total War forum
will say they already have a workable Napoleon, Total War using the Empire:
Total War engine and theirs a number of good demo's on Youtube to prove it.

With Sega and the development guys from Creative Assembly already going for
February 22nd 2010 for the release of Napoleon, Total War, its going to be a
toss up as to which completed game arrives first.

I believe there isn't any competition between this 2 games because the other game isn't a wargame.
Austerlitz on 4 Km² and 20 regiments.. No sure it's Austerlitz.. I am waiting for the squares destroyed by CAV and a lot of unhistorical behaviours.

BTW, I can promise the release will be before February... and the DemoII for Les Grenadiers with a new battle AND Austerlitz very soon!

MAHAHAHAHA!  ;) Oh, that is too funny and it will take more than a Youtube video or two to prove it to me. The game mechanics of the Total War series make it impossible to create e serious wargame using their system. Many may consider them fun games but they have never been a true wargame that tries to effectively simulate actual battle.

TW:E or N really are very different games to HW:LG and in most cases will appeal to a different audience IMHO. I do not think that the release of TW:N will impact upon LG sales in any detrimental manner.

Yeah " Apples and oranges bart ".

It really is a shame because Shogun Total War and to some extent Medieval Total War 1 were good almost wargames but now the series is just dumb as dirt eye candy.

The only company putting out real time wargames besides JMM is Panther games which do WW2 wargames. They have an AI that is fully functional as an opponent and as lower echelon commnaders for you. The programmer who was redoing Horse and Musket for Matrix games ( good game I'm a beta tester ) was going to do an updated version of " battles of Napoleon, but it didn't pan out.

Damn...you were a few seconds early ...
The Total war idea worked well with Rome as well I think...as long as it all concludes in a massive melee combat the idea is fine...
but starting with the 17th century it all changes and the latest TWs are just graphical showdowns... that's about it

I'll stick to realism and will stay my ground to the last

Best analogy I've ever come up with:

Ever see "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang"?

Remember the game Caracticus Potts' father is playing on the floor with his old brigadier?  The one where they roll a disk at the opponent's soldiers to knock them down...and then shout a lot...and probably drink (though off camera to preserve the G rating)?

Seems like immense fun, if daft, ahistorical, and silly.

That, to me, is everything TW.
