can't get units to charge

Can't get units to charge.

I order collumns and attack, but the units always end up in line or just stop in columns and start to fire. never had them charge home or chace enemys, they always end up in a fire fight and most of the time loose

You might need to change some settings in the doctrine editor to allow a volley then charge instead of a line attack.

I can't find a doctrine editor? Can you access this in the demo?

I'm only a couple hours into my first battle (yeah, I'm playing at 60:60 ) but JMM appears to have emphatically answered one of my more basic questions, viz.:  infantry melee in the open is an exception rather than a rule.  Even drilled men will prefer to exchange fire rather than melee and most "melees" were actually the result of one side charging and the other side getting the heck out of Dodge.

A distinct and wondrous change from the N:TW model.

Yes, but you should still have the options to charge the enemy in column and then either the enemy runs or you run
