Mes collègues, s'il vous plaît m'excuser si j'écris dans l'anglais, mais mon français n'est pas assez fort pour capturer les idées suivantes :
I am an American, and I can tell you that, in general, we are divided into “two Americas.” In one half, ignorance about both history and geography is amazing, surpassed only by the absolute ignorance of languages other than English. (The other half, my half, watched in horror as the slightly larger ignorant half re-elected the current idiot – president).
With regard to France, the idiot half remembers only that the French refusal to support the war in Iraq and forgets the role that Rochambeau, de Grass, and Lafayette played in helping us to secure our liberty (the final and victorious Yorktown campaign was Rochambeau’s idea). This is the same half that would say that I’m unpatriotic for even writing this.
My half reads books (other than the Bible), learns languages (although we don’t get much practice), and rejects the stupid half’s “black and- white,” “us- against-them” thinking that has created the mess we now see in Iraq.
And we stand in awe of L’Empereur….
