Thanks, zu Pferd, for these links.
The second one, the debate between Andrew Roberts and Adam Zamoyski, is the most interesting.
What would you have voted for ?

Théo

Hi Theo,

I've read Zamoyski, but not Roberts -I will. Roberts made a very sympathetic case
for Napoleon and open to some criticism; I tended to be on his side more. Zamoyski is
also such a foil for Roberts optimism about Napoleon and was intransigent: his book about
the 1812 disaster is a very good read.
I voted for Roberts presentation I read Goethe and others who met the man and furnished
more then ample generous reserve, just like Roberts.
France's crown was in the gutter after all.
Roberts by the way is a supporter for a strong US presence. Perhaps Roberts would welcome
an 'emperor within a Republic' in modern times.
