Hello new member with some questions

Hello,
I have yet to purchase the Los Grognards.  I have some questions regarding installation. 
1.  Since I get a CD with the purchase can I install directly from the CD, or do I have to download?
2. If I have to download to install, will the installation include ALL the patches to date?
3. If the answer to #2 is NO, how do I know what patches have been installed?  Is this found in
     the HistWar main folder?
4. Where will I find a. the patches I need, and b. the latest mods?
5.  When installing patches is there ONE patch which includes ALL the patches to date or
      must I install each patch separately?
6.  If I install with a download, it seems I will receive an e-mail indicating a link (http) to the download,
     along with a very lengthy serial number.
7.  For purposes of the download can I use the SAME user name and password as I have for this forum?

1A I also purchased CD version a few years back. My version needed to be patched as the game
was being developed and tested. Check the version number bottom right end of the game menu.
then get in the HistWar Depot and open the 'Patches' folder compare the versions and download the
latest patch if you needed.
Update your computer's Direct x version as well  (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/179113

2. If I have to download to install, will the installation include ALL the patches to date?

2A if you purchased the CD version all you need to do is patch it, but only after you check the version (as explained above)
      if you purchase as a download follow the same steps.

3. If the answer to #2 is NO, how do I know what patches have been installed?  Is this found in
     the HistWar main folder?

3A I haven't purchased the latest build (patched I presume)so my version (CD) was the bare bones version
      and a lot of patches were added over the years (a beta version in the making) check the version.

4A the HistWar Depot

5.  When installing patches is there ONE patch which includes ALL the patches to date or

5A The latest build/patch is in the 'Patches' folder in the Depot

6A. The number is your own Serial Number you must enter it when you run the game for the first time.
       do this before you patch the game (if the version requires a patch)

7.  For purposes of the download can I use the SAME user name and password as I have for this forum?

7A the 'game' download ? I am not sure, but I would say if it asks you to build a password for the purchase
use the same password as you built to register in the forum

It should also be fine to install from the disc. ( I mean, thats the obvious purpose of such a medium)

Probably no.

This isnt relevant, cos there is an all-inclusive-patch available that fits with every previous version. You can see the current version running in the main menu bottom right.

HistWar Les Grognards : Full patch 03n for all versions

I dont think so. You should get seperate access info with a confirmation e-mail.

You said to update to the latest verstion of Direct X. 
You are saying to use the latest version of Direct X  and not Direct X 9c?

What version of Direct X do you have to run HW:LG?   
I have Direct x 11.  this should be ok, correct?

Hello ,

please use the link that was supplied. Stand alone version Direct X 9c is what you need
to run HistWar. I run  HistWar Les Grognards on a older laptop with Window's Vista.
My Windows XP computer was dismantled and recycled after Microsoft stopped
support for XP and security for XP based CP's

The laptop does not have the best graphic card and I do my testing (which is never finished )
 I give you the link again http://support.microsoft.com/kb/179113.
 search type  Direct X 9c and follow instructions.

When my XP platform PC was still running  Direct X 9c was ready available as a stand alone.
Direct x11 is what I have in my Window 7 platform computer. But to play HistWar you need Direct x 9c
as well . Downloading Direct X9c will not delete Direct X 11.
