The Generals HQ private server

Hi guys I have accured the use of a static IP address, this can be available to HWLG users.
The server at the moment, is only available to TGHQ members, and at the moment, is for a maximum of 10 players

Gaz, this could be interesting.  Do you have plans to expand it, I am sure many who have connection problems, would pay a small fee.
How does the game setup work when using a Server?

One of the reasons I posted this was to see how many initial people have viewed this Thread, to guage an Idea of numbers. so thats about 79 people abouts that have looked here which is good in our view.
So apologies if anyone has been misled.

We have got some technical advise and knowledge, on how to do this.

It doesnt cost a real lot to set up, but you will have to be sure on the numbers, to be committed for at least a year. It would have to be more than 10 thats for sure. More like around 50 to make a start to make it worthwhile. Thats what we have calculated.

We would also need help from JMM Histwar about getting the rights and data from players licenses to ensure that aspect is covered, as well.

Im sure we could get that many worldwide to do this, what does everyone think so far?

Just have a look at some of your "movies" on YouTube...
The overall presentation is excellent and the replays are very attractive - Probably one of the best intro to Histwar for newcomers as well as a pleasure for connoisseurs

In one place it says MAX 10 users, in anouther place MIN 50 needed ?.

How will it work ?.

Who will be able to use it ?

Are there are charges ?.

Is it something HW should be doing - and not a private individual ?.

We should be looking at this, Gaz I suggest you post on the HIT Forum.  A lot of the guys there have connection issues

If you do a search on google like "Build your own server" there is a lot of info you can get.

The server that we deal with that hosts TGHQ "Siteground" will cost about $180USD a month to run but that with software etc in that, plus you wont have the cost of upgrading software all the time. Because we have an account there will be no setup costs. But the server would be able to host a lot of people.

The other alternative is to get a pc with a high gigabyte  speed. which would be about $500AUD the server software about $1ooo.00, this should service about 50 to 100 people. This is cheaper but higher in maitenance costs.

To pay for the server of $180.00 a month you would need 100 people to pay say 2.00 a month for running it, and they would have to be a paying member for a year, to make it worth while.

This is what is costing for most servers for online Browser based game, like Astro Empires, Napwar by Caplay etc.


We would need some info help from Histwar on this as well.
But it is doable

Ok, I understand a bit better now......IF I knew we had a place to play HW MP without all the conncection issues people are having, and I knew there were a reasonable amount of other people interested I would not hesitate to play several dollars a month, but I'm, afraid we may not have enough like minded people, but I will be thrilled to be proven wrong.

Even having server there would still be issues, perhaps not as many, but the routers modems can be a bit tricky even for the experienced IT guy
