Try here : http://www.histwar.com/game/user-guides.html

It's a difficult game, reading the manuals is vital, it's best to not try and rush things all at once.....

It's taken me 100's of hours of gaming and I'm still learning something new every day

The game isn't really difficult for learning the basis, I do it with 5 games without the manuals but if you really want to master it, it needs a lot more time.

I was refering to the depth and richness off the game.

Darsh is right, the basics of Deploy, Defend etc.. can be mastered quite quickly. Just try not to micromanage. The paintings we see of battlefields in the Art Galleries etc...showing lots of clean neat soldiers stood in perfect lines, are all well and good but HLG deals with reality and once combat begins things on a Napoleonic battlefield got pretty chaotic

No mate. I still fight a battle and a unit or Corp will do something I have not seen before or didn't expect and I say WOW!! I never saw that before but it makes sense  :D :D

Do you play chess?
It's very easy to learn the rules before playing the first game... But you have to play a lot to begin a very good player.
I believe HistWar is like that; it' s very easy to begin the first battles; with all options on (Fog of War, interception of messages, delay of orders...) it' s a bit complex!

Is it clear?

Yep.  Play first.  Learn how it goes.  There are some you tube clips - one good helpful one about giving orders - that make the process pretty painless.  Then you just play.  The manuals are where you go for clarification, about the same time as you post a 'What the...' thread. :)

btw, I recently bought Napoleon Total War just for the graphics and wot not.  Actually, there's not much wotnot.  It makes me happier being involved around Les Grognards.  This truly is the history side.  NTW is fun silly arcade stuff.   As far as any comparison makes sense between the two games, each is kind of the upside-down image of the other as regards graphics and complexity.  NTW is very pretty but painfully simplistic.  LG isn't as pretty (but then it's not utterly fugly, either) but the depth of the programming, history and long-term playability make it by far the better investment.  I don't mean to repeat myself but the long ride of development will be well worthwhile.
