Those look really terrific!

Hope that you don't get the animal right activists after you, though. ;)

Isn't the neck a bit too long ? or is it consequence of perspective?

For sure, knowing a bit JMM, I'm pretty confident Mrs Bardot won't find any attack angle

Hmmm... horse model could use some work     proportion and general overall appearance seems to be a problem.

But so does the motion itself. Here:  http://dq.com/java/index.html is a site that should help a bit with the basic motion, for walking, trotting, etc.

Also, here is another great site: http://www.soe.ucsc.edu/~wilhelms/fauna/Vision/index.html

..and one more:  http://bowlingsite.mcf.com/Movement/locoindex.html

Sorry to be so picky.

Also JMM, check out this 3DS MAX plugin, CAT: http://www.charanitech.com/home.asp, it allows you to do realistic motion cycles for 2 or 4 legged characters.  I have played around with it and it is very powerful, and fairly easy to use.

They have a free demo so your artists can download it and check it out for themselves.

Bonjour JMM,

How will cavalry be animated when they are given the charge order against infantry in squares?

Will they go around the squares or smash right into them?
Will they lose formation or will they remain static?

Very interesting (and hard) question  8) I believe the best answer is 'Patience to wait the AVIs...)

Today, all Cav go to one side of the square.... If this part runs fine, I'll try to modify the paths of each squadrons to get a better view!

Then I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything will run fine.  8)
The falling horse looked very promising for the future.

I of course wish to have as realistic view as possible.  :D
...but there are always limitations to consider though.

Godness what a hard and precise stuff is requested !!
I do appreciate  nice show view on computer wargame but I rather realistic fight results and movement :P
JMM is it planned to show death (Men & horeses) on battlefield whatever is the duration of the battle? :ange: won't it be memory and PC's power "devourer" ? :?:  :?:

Hope it won't delay demo and "Les Grognards" release :bravo:  :jump2:

Hi Xenophon,

Unlike other historic simulation games like "Total war" and "Cossacks" Les Grognards is a "real" war game so I don't think that basic things like realistic fight results and movement gonna be a problem.

According to the various AVI's showed here the men and horses will not just lie on the ground instantly when hit but actually fall down. I think that is a nice touch that adds reality to the view of the game.  :D

If you are worried about the system requirement to run the game I don't think it will be a problem since you actually can play the game entirely on the 2D view. The better PC you have the closer you'll get to the action which I think is good 'coz those (like me) who have a top modern PC should not suffer for others with less modern PC's.

As for any delay for modifying the paths I leave that to JMM to answer. I don't think he modify it if it will require a lot of amount of hours doing it.

Bonjour,

Link is right  8)

The control of mouvement is a great piece in Les Grognards.. maybe the half of the software... So, I am trying to get the better for this first version... and sometimes it's not easy to get the best 8) without delay.

I don't know the translation for " Le mieux est l'ennemi du bien".

This is a copy of the translation I've sent to Link, hope it could be usefull to some of you...

“Le mieux est l’ennemi du bien” is literally translated by “Better is enemy of good”. It means that trying to do better you’re not likely to do well.
The actual English expression is “Leave well alone”.

We all hope JMM did not intended to say... leave ME alone !
Wellllll... I hope !  :? Perhaps...  You kidding me, nooooo...
