France get a Strategic win (the only kind that counts in the Campaign)

France used a more cautious tactic today. We pressured the Allied Right and by micromanaging our Artillery, managed to destroy a sizable number of Allied Cannon.
Across the river a French Corps on Defense by the bridge, detained the Danish Elite. When the Allies Counter Attacked in the final 2 hours of the battle, this Corp was able to transfer reserves over the Northern bridge to the Center. The Center held well and had a fresh cavalry Corp in reserve.

As usual the "Dynamic Duo" put up a great fight, even when they don't win, they manage to inflict a lot of damage, Well fought guys!!!

First screen shows the French plan in Red and how it changed in Blue, the second screen is at the Battle end, third is CEH & lastly the current Campaign position with the Allies to move next

Thanks, we were missing this kind of very interesting battle report 
Not easy for the Allies to break such a concentrated defense with a frontal attack.
Maybe in the case of a massive superiority in artillery, you have a chance to weaken the French line...

We have many reports like this over at NBC, in this battle the Allies never got the Infantry Corps with three artillery batteries deployed far enough to the east, so when faced with the French attack only two batteries were able to fire, then when the Corps tried to re-deploy all three batteries went on the "attack unit" charge and were destroyed, the same thing then happened to three mre under Dougies Command....after this we were at the mercy of the French cannons, lucky for us AJ got a little "scared" and halted his advance, like the Germans in France 1940.....so we were able to re-group and pressure the French in the centre, we lost, but not as badly as it might have been, which is very important....win or lose matters, but NOT losing too badly is even more important !.

Yes, like after Dunkerque, your army will be able to come back to fight in the next days of the campaign

Yes, we only lost 13 CEH more than the French, and they outnumbered us 300 to 252.

Finally, the strategic French win depends mostly on the initial CEH superiority rather than directly on the loses?
Maybe it would have been more interesting to avoid the fight?

This is an important part of the GaW Campaign, you have no option but to fight when attacked, this makes the Campaign map moves more interesting, as you have to be carefull.....if you could refuse to fight, no one will ever fight unless they are certain of winning. 

The way we run it makes you fight, so the battles you look like losing are fought to avoid a disaster !!!.
