Something I've learned

Quote from an NBC MP Battle report by Gunner 24:

Citer
Another classic, and another hard fought draw.  AJ made another big push up the western flank which Oho did well to hold up for long enough while my reserves moved over and attacked the flank of the French attack.....a full 9 hours of brillent tactcis, cav skirmish, arty bombardemnt, guard attacks and defence, cav running riot in the rear.....great stuff.

Learning to actually use the tools Histwar provides is only the beginning. I feel that in every battle I am now learning the art of Generalship. As Gunner says above, there was everything in this battle. A few months ago, many of the things that occurred would have led to defeat for one or the other of us. We are learning now, that Histwar isn't just a simulator of Napoleonic warfare, it is a tool that can help teach a willing person the skills of Generalship.

something I've learned with that game (first mp-game and gunner24 as the CiC told me what to do):
- Don't send your cav too far away, they won't obey any orders and get captured ;-).
- Deployment as a retreat-to-position order seems to work.
- multiplayer is great but also hard work
- I still have to learn a lot, esp. how to get information about the status of troops quickly.
- I have to get a microphone

oho, I was surprised how well you did as that was your first MP game, you will have no problems in future.

After you left, the 3rd Corps I asked you to pull back, came into action and were holding the French near those woods, if you had kept fighting with them earlier they might have been lost and the French could have broken right though to the western LOP, resulting in the battle being lost......pulling back a Corps to use again later is very important, but also hard to do, and (of course) you have to have fresh troops to take their place in the line.

Oho, I recommend the Speaker/Mic combo headsets. That way the family doesn't have to listen to me swearing :D Seriously the combo's are great, $15 in the USA.
