Is this the right time to jump in?
« le: 20 février 2010, 23:28:04 pm »
I have been lurking for a long time on these forums and waiting for the game's release. I think I am ready to make the jump, but I am still worried about some of the features. Here are a couple of questions for any game owner that wishes to answer them

1. What is the state of the AI (Doe's it attack, Defend, generally respond)?

2. Are the editing tools robust, mediocre, or completely missing?

3. In comparison to the Demo 1, would you say the game has improved and in which ways?

4. Is JMM going to assess the UI?

5. Thank you

I think you’ve done remarkably well to holdout this long with the hundreds of positive posts scattered about the various forums.

I’ll let some of the other grognards answer questions 1 to 3.

JMM is continuing to improve everything about the simulation which for him is a definite labour of love.

On a more personal note, I’ve played many types of computer Napoleonic Wargames in the past few years and without doubt this is by far the best I’ve ever played, bar none.

If I were you I’d take the jump!  :D

Hi stupidkd!

I have to say that the best way for you to find out would be to actually buy and play the game...you wouldn't regret this investement for a single moment!...I, for one thing, didn't!

I'll give questions 2 and 3 a little try:

ad 2: If you have a closer look at the forum you will see how many wonderful things have already been created with both the OoB and the Map Editor...they work fine and are fun too..you can create both random maps and OoBs if you wish, or make special ones yourself...

ad 3: I'd say that the game has changed so much since demo I that you can no longer compare them...real bugs are few and the game runs smoothly...PBEM works great as well as MP...I played all of them and never regretted a single moment I spent with the game...

and I can only second Fusilier, when he says that HWLG is a unique experience...I have always dreamt about commanding on a field in the Napoleonic era...and this game renders this possible...actually you get as close to reality as you can get at the moment...

and the game still has a long evolution ahead, as all the helpful people on this forum are working together with JMM's team to improve it in the years to come...

So I can assure you that your money would be well spent on this very special game!
