Hi,
does anybody know the pros and cons of organizing Corps by right and left echelon, checker board and on 2 lines? I've tried each of them out, but still don't know quite what each of them are tactically supposed to achieve. I've looked through the manual, but cannot find an explanation.

It basically to refuse the left or right of your ARMY to refuse is to deny, and in this case to deny your flank to the enemy by making sure that your flank which is echoloned, back as far it can be. Checker board is not necesssary on 2 lines, that depends on the frontage of your deployment, and how many units in the Corps, this is to give a deep reserve.
